LIGHTING & LIGHNING PROTECTION

Lighting and lightning protection systems are two essential technical infrastructures that ensure the functionality and safety of all buildings.

The system integrates two core roles:
    • Lighting system: Uses electricity, control panels, wiring, and lamps (LED, fluorescent) to provide artificial light for daily life, production, and to enhance the aesthetics of the space.
    • Lightning protection system: Uses lightning rods, conductors, and grounding systems buried deep underground to safely capture, conduct, and dissipate lightning currents, protecting buildings and equipment.
This combination optimizes operation while preventing dangerous fire and explosion hazards.

Illumination

A lighting system is a collection of closely interconnected electrical devices that provide artificial light for living and production purposes.
Main Structure
  • Power Supply & Control Cabinet: Provides safe power supply and contains protective devices (circuit breakers, relays).
  • Control devices: Switches, sensors, or smart controllers (Smarthome).
  • Wires & Protective Tubes: Transmit electrical energy from the power source to the lamp.
  • Lighting: LEDs, fluorescent lamps, etc., convert electrical energy into light energy.

Lightning Protection

Lightning protection systems are a mandatory technical solution to protect people, buildings, and electronic equipment from the dangerous effects of lightning strikes.

Main Structure
  • Lightning arrestor system: Captures direct lightning current (traditional or ESE active lightning arrester).
  • Lightning down conductor system: Safely conducts extremely high currents from the lightning rod to the ground.
  • Grounding system: Consists of grounding rods and connecting wires buried deep underground, which helps to quickly dissipate lightning current into the ground.
  • Surge Protection Device (SPD): Protects power and signal lines from high voltage surges.
Principles & Functions
The system operates when electricity flows from the distribution panel, through the control device, to activate the light source. Modern systems not only ensure standard illumination levels, reduce glare, and save energy, but also enhance the aesthetics of the space.
Classify
  • By space: Interior lighting (homes, offices) and exterior lighting (streets, landscapes).
  • By purpose: General lighting, emergency lighting, and decorative lighting.

Operating Principle

When an active discharge from the cloud occurs, the lightning rod will actively attract the lightning strike, conducting all the electrical energy through the wiring system and quickly dissipating it into the ground through the grounding system, preventing fires and protecting equipment.
